Government of Tamil Nadu is establishing 'IT Finishing Schools' in rural districts in Tamil Nadu to enhance employability of the candidates belonging to the weaker sections, notably the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes through ELCOT.
These IT Finishing Schools will enable the rural youth to get access to high quality Rural BPO Training, so that they become employable by the IT / ITES industries in proposed Rural BPO Centers. These IT Finishing Schools will prevent migration of youth to the cities and shift the focus of the BPO industry to rural areas.
ELCOT is implementing the scheme funded by TAHDCO. Training Centers have been set up in all rural districts and the IT Finishing School training commenced in all districts on various dates starting from 14.02.2009 to 25.02.2009.
Out of 6800 candidates, around 3707 candidates have been trained in the 1st batch. The second batch of training has commenced in 16 districts with around 2500 candidates with effect from June 2009.
